Nice 100% WW2 Issue early war wool shirt, with technician 5th grade rank chevrons and beautiful mounted patch of the famous 33rd Infantry division - this unit is famous for its combat in the Philippines, Luzon and other areas in the Pacific; several laundry numbers are stamped in the bototm of the shirt and neck; great research potential. It has some minor wear due to age, see photo's. It was certainly worn in the field, see photo's, but in nice condition. The label is washed out but still present. Overall a great shirt - please see attached photo's for an important own impression; they are part of the description. A very nice and 100% original shirt of an PTO unit that saw heavy combat during WW2! History of the 33rd infantry divisionThe 33rd Infantry Division arrived in Hawaii on 12 July 1943. While guarding installations, it received training in jungle warfare. On 11 May 1944, it arrived in New Guinea where it received additional training. The 123rd Infantry Regiment arrived at Maffin Bay on 1 September, to provide perimeter defense around the Wakde Airdrome and in the Toem–Sarmi sector. The 123rd was relieved on 26 January 1945.
